Job Description
Concurrent is looking for a Director of Product Management to drive the roadmap and product delivery of our next generation Data Processing Management platform. This role reports directly to and works closely with the founder and management team. The Director of Product Management will get the opportunity to work directly with technical and business leaders in what the press and analysts are calling “Big Data”. This individual should provide leadership, drive product roadmaps, represent customers and partners, and drive strategies for the core platform. Team leadership, business acumen and both applications and systems-level technology expertise are key characteristics of the successful candidate. This person should also have a variety of external interests to provide balance and creativity.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of product management, technical marketing, sales engineering, or engineering management in the enterprise applications, datacenter computing, storage, networking, or device industry
- Minimum of three years of management and proven track record in leading an innovative technical team
- The ability to problem solve, think creatively, lead teams, self-organize and organize the team, and set strategic direction are critical
- Customer savvy, critical thinking at a system level, and the ability to articulate business and technical needs are very important
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic
- Understanding of enterprise development cycles
- Superb written and verbal communication skills characterized by clarity and brevity
- Solid knowledge of large scale data processing architecture and internals, application development trends and data analysis
- Familiarity with application architectures (e.g. three-tier applications, scale-out applications, web applications, database applications)
- Intimate understanding of how open-source processes and licensing work, and the subtle relationships between customer and user communities
- BS in Computer Science or related technical field with MS or Ph.D. preferred. MBA a plus
